ABOUT
ME!
I am a German choreographer based in NYC. I started my professional dance education at the Professional Division of the Theater Basel, Switzerland followed by professional classes in Cologne and Düsseldorf, Germany. In 2016, I moved to NYC to complete a program at Peridance Capezio Center. Since then, I danced with several companies and choreographers, i.a. RIVA Dance Company, (Rannvá Niclasen), Vivo Ballet (Enzo Celli), Julia Ehrstrand, Búi Rouch, Marijke Eliasberg and Max Stone. My first choreography was shown in 2018 in Freiburg, Germany, and my work has since been shown in several venues in New York (i.a. Peridance, Cherry Lane, Jennifer Muller), and Florida, as well as in Detroit, MI and Providence, RI.
I believe that arts can express those things that words cannot - atmospheres, energies, feelings and spaces. So, rather than telling a complete story, I gravitate towards ambiguous concepts with an underlying duality. Every thought, every experience and every feeling is a complex construct with many layers. In my work, I aim to capture these different layers and the spaces within, and to create an energy translating the different dimensions and perspectives involved.

In my creative process, I first develop a concept and then start exploring how to translate this into movement. Coming from a family of professional musicians, I also derive a lot of inspiration from music. Music triggers thoughts and emotions inside of me that I can only express through movement. I am not trying to visualize the music but rather to create an additional dimension with my choreography. Finding the right distance to the music is crucial in my creative process. My work is very physical and I have developed my own movement language influenced by choreographers I have worked with throughout my career. Each work is also strongly influenced by the dancers I work with. I am fascinated how different the same movement looks on different people, so all my works are co-creations with the dancers. Watching dancers being fully connected with their deepest layers enables the audience to understand the layers of my work.
